Data center liquid cooling technologies are rapidly approaching an inflection point. Increasing semiconductor thermal design power (TDP) and the emergence of large language model and generative AI applications are leading to significantly increasing rack power densities. This is necessitating a transition from air-based thermal management systems, which have historically supported rack densities up to 20 kW/rack, to liquid cooling, which can support rack power densities up to 100 kW+/rack.
