The biologics used in Anti-inflammatory treatment – abatacept (Orencia), adalimumab (Humira), anakinra (Kineret), etanercept (Enbrel), infliximab (Remicade) and rituximab (Rituxan) – block triggers of inflammation. Biologics may be used alone or in combination with a traditional DMARD to treat autoimmune forms of arthritis, such as RA juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), ankylosing spondylitis or psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis. Biologics are given as an injection or infusion, and as such, there is always a risk of an injection site reaction or an infusion reaction.
