The market leader on EaaS innovation has been the remote microgrid segment with pay as you go (PAYG) programs. These pioneering systems can only be viable with some form of EaaS absent full direct government subsidy or traditional rate-basing. Many rely upon grants from NGO entities or governments to be established can only continue but rely upon PAYG business models that mimic utility-customer relationships or mobile phone cards to keep operating.
