Data from the Telecom and Broadcasting study by the OECD in 2019 puts forth that Mexico has a higher percentage of fiber optic connections compared to the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. In 2017, approximately 18.3% of the total internet access in the country was provided through optical fiber networks.
Fiber optic cable (FOC) is gradually replacing other available alternatives like fixed wireless internet, owing to its benefits such as low latency and greater speed than radio wave technology.
