Summary

The 5G base station market size was valued at US$ 20.53 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach US$ 65.70 billion by 2030; it is estimated to record a CAGR of 11.0% from 2022 to 2030.

The 5G base station is the key equipment of the 5G network, which provides wireless coverage and realizes wireless signal transmission between the wired communication network and the wireless terminal. The architecture and shape of base stations directly affect the way 5G networks are deployed. With a rise in frequency, the attenuation during signal propagation increases, leading to a higher base station density of the 5G network. In May 2022, China built ~1.6 million 5G base stations and became the first country in the world to build a large-scale 5G network based on the independent networking model. In 2022, China added 887,000 new 5G base stations. The number of 5G base stations reached 2.312 million, accounting for more than 60% of the world's total.

Furthermore, various companies across the globe are taking initiatives to increase the number of 5G base stations. For instance, in December 2022, Indian operators such as Reliance, Infocom, Jio, and Bharti Airtel deployed approximately 33,000 base stations for 5G services as of 2022. Similarly, NEC Corporation announced the launch of two new models of integrated compact base stations from the UNIVERGE RV1000 series. These models include baseband units and base station radio units (RUs) in a single enclosure, primarily for small-scale networks. NEC began sales of the standalone (SA) UNIVERGE RV1200 base station (compatible with the 4.7GHz band) and the non-standalone (NSA) UNIVERGE RV1300 base station (compatible with the 28GHz band) from the first quarter of 2022 in Japan. Therefore, with rising launches of new models, the 5G base station market is growing significantly.

Low latency 5G networks create new possibilities for services that demand nearly instant response time. These services include telemedicine, augmented reality headsets, and communications between autonomous vehicles that support linking into efficient platoons. Less latency means reducing the time between sending and receiving the signal. 5G network brings the network range to at least under ten milliseconds and, in best cases, approximately one millisecond delay, meaning data will be transferred in real-time. The advancement of 5G-based mobile networks achieves low delays, which opens the way to completely new opportunities, including virtual reality experiences, multiplayer mobile gaming, factory robots, and self-driving car applications for which a speedy response is considered a strong criterion. Focusing on self-driving vehicles, existing cellular networks already offer a wide variety of tools that address business requirements. C-V2X and its evolution to 5G V2X will foster synergies between the automotive industry and other verticals moving towards 5G. Its extreme throughput, low latency, and enhanced reliability will allow vehicles to share rich, real-time data, supporting autonomous and connected driving experiences. For example, LTE Cat-M and Narrow Internet of Things (NB-IoT) are excellent low-power sensor communication technologies.

In order to determine and recommend individual actions to enable complex vehicle maneuvering, e.g., deceleration, lane changes, or route modifications, acceleration, the vehicles must be able to receive and share information about their driving intentions in real time. This low-latency demand can be fulfilled with the development of an overall 5G system architecture to provide optimized end-to-end vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity. With the increasing use of cloud-based services, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), there is an increased demand for high-speed data transmission and low latency. The need for real-time interactions and the increasing use of data-intensive applications across various sectors drive the growing demand for low-latency and high-speed data. 5G base stations are essential in meeting these demands by providing the necessary infrastructure for high-speed, low-latency, and reliable connectivity, making them a crucial component of the evolving telecommunications landscape. Thus, increased demand for low latency and high-speed data drives the 5G base station market.

お客様の御支払い条件が60日以上の場合は御相談ください。
尚、初めてのお取引先や個人の場合、前払いをお願いすることもあります。ご了承のほど、お願いします。
